“When you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life.”

I have spent my entire life molding myself into the person I want to be. I’m not there yet. I may never be, but the journey has been exciting, humbling and full of surprises. Along the way, I’ve tried to understand others and how to bring out the best in them. I’ve also worked at ways to best pass that knowledge on to others.

All this has not been without its twists and turns and its hiccups, but those have been learning opportunities as well.

What are some of the things I've learned?

• Lack of communication in our workplaces is one of the biggest obstacles to people getting along. When we stop making assumptions and have real discussions, most problems can be worked out.
• Those times when we are most absolutely certain we are right are the times when we are most apt to be wrong.
• We can only make real changes in ourselves when we become aware of that need to change, prepare to make the change, and then stick with it for a long time. The changing is easy. It’s the sticking with it that is hard.
